I. Introduction

 Shaqra-University-naseej

Among Shaqra University’s main objectives is the development of the nation’s human resources. Accordingly, the University embarked upon a strategic project to recruit highly qualified and properly trained personnel to help ensure that sufficient graduates are available to meet the needs of the national labor market, and to conduct academic research that addresses both societal and developmental issues.

The University also sought to expand its admission capacity for secondary school certificate holders and to add additional colleges for applied sciences to augment the 21 colleges currently distributed over several provinces.


II. Challenges

Shaqra University faced the following challenges in developing a strategic plan that would enable it to fulfill its long-term objectives:

  • Expanding its workforce.
  • Launching a professional-quality, large-scale job recruiting campaign within a very tight time frame.
  • Readying the required customized system to manage the job recruiting campaign.
  • Enhancing the University’s portal infrastructure to meet the expected high traffic.
  • Installing a fully integrated system to ensure fast, effective and secure processing of applications.
 

III. Solution

To implement the recommended solution, Naseej obtained the necessary licenses for, installed and configured Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SharePoint Server and Microsoft Hyper-V Server. Naseej also:

  • Designed and installed a fully customized “Recruiting Campaign System.”
  • Made the system accessible through the University’s portal at any time and anywhere.
  • Hosted the system in a high-end, fully secure and managed environment (in one of the largest Tier3+ datacenters in KSA).

With the new system in place, and using the cloud services offered by Naseej

  • Shaqra University launched its job recruiting campaign on schedule.
  • Job seekers can create their own account, develop their own CV, and enter personal data such as education, qualifications and work experience.
  • Job seekers can apply for vacancies that match their interests.
  • System administrators can view and manage the jobs assigned to them and contact the shortlisted applicants.

IV. Results

Within 48 hours of launching the system, the following statistics were recorded:

  • Registered applicants: 9,274
  • Completed CVs: 7,456
  • Applicants for academic jobs: 5,712
